PHASE 1 ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT

A Phase 1 Environmental Assessment report includes a desk study and walk over survey to identify the potential for a site to have contamination and environmental liabilities.
It will include a qualitative risk assessment to determine likelihood of contamination or whether any possible contamination could be a risk to human health or environmental receptors such as controlled waters (coastal waters, inland fresh waters and groundwater). A Phase 1 Assessment is generally the minimum assessment required by a local planning authority prior to providing planning approval for a brownfield site. Where further site investigation is indicated, the report will include a cost effective sampling strategy that will be tailored to the sites previous uses. We will liaise with the Local Authority to ensure that our suggestions will meet with their approval to expedite the planning process.
